Help Decide the Future of Our Weekly UHF/VHF Net

Participation in our weekly UHF/VHF Net has sharply dwindled during the last few months and it is now time to choose a future course for the net.

You can help with this process by taking the 2021 RRRA Net Survey.

All RRRA Members are encouraged to participate in this survey regardless of whether or not they are a regular net participants.

RRRA Needs You on September 24 & 25

RRRA is conducting their 2021 Hamfest and ARRL Dakota Division Convention and providing communication support for the 2021 Fargo Marathon on September 25th, 2021.

As of the close of the August RRRA Business Meeting

  • 13 radio operators are needed to fully staff the Fargo Marathon
  • 24 Hamfest volunteer positions are unfilled

Our First Post-COVID Club Meeting Of 2021 Is June 15th

The RRRA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the club’s return to in-person meetings with the 7PM June 15th, 2021, Business Meeting at West Fargo City Hall.

A Zoom link to our meeting room is planned for those members who are unable to—or do not wish to—attend an in-person meeting at this time. Please visit W0JPJ’s Zoom meeting invitation for connection information if you wish to attend this meeting through Zoom.

Members who are fully vaccinated (i.e. have completed their course of vaccinations at least 2 weeks ago) are welcome to attend our meeting without wearing a face covering. But they should pay attention to official signage posted in an around City Hall for potential changes to local policy.

Members who are not fully vaccinated should follow CDC Guidance for unvaccinated people—including wearing a face covering—if they choose to attend our meeting. They should keep in mind that the CDC considers attending a small, indoor gathering of fully vaccinated and unvaccinated people from multiple households to be a Less Safe activity. And attending a full-capacity worship service to be a Least Safe activity.

Members who have a weakened immune system, or who have been recently exposed to COVID-19, should consider attending our meeting through the Zoom link.

FCC FRN Registration Update

On April 27, 2021, ARRL News reported:

Auto-registration in the FCC Commission Registration System (CORES) amateur radio exam for candidates using a Social Security number will be discontinued on May 20, 2021. Applicants must use an FCC Registration Number (FRN) for all license transactions with the FCC. Examinees must register in CORES and receive an FRN before exam day. Starting on May 20, electronic batch filed applications that do not include a candidate’s FRN will be rejected. The Social Security/Licensee ID Field will be disabled.
