The ARRL Programs and Services Committee (PSC) has adopted two temporary rule waivers on May 27, 2020. for the 2020 ARRL Field Day event.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many radio clubs have made decisions to cancel their group participation in ARRL Field Day this year due to public health recommendations and/or requirements, or to significantly modify their participation for safe social distancing practices. [These] temporary rule waivers allow greater flexibility in recognizing the value of individual and club participation regardless of entry class. ¹

Field Day is Amateur Radio’s open house. It is a picnic, a campout, practice for emergencies, an informal contest and, most of all, fun!

Field Day is held on the 4th weekend in June; in 2020 that is 1:00PM CDT Saturday, June 27th, to 3:59PM CDT Sunday, June 28th.

Effective Sunday, May 3^rd, the Goose River 160 meter net will change to its summer hours. The net will meet at 7:00 AM local time on a frequency of 1.925 MHz and will continue throughout the summer.

Thanks to everyone who has been getting up to participate in the net. Our numbers are up and we enjoy having all the stations check in. Please join us and be a part of one of the oldest nets in the Red River Valley.

August 8, 2020, is the new tentative date for the Midwinter Madness Hamfest. This date was announced during the March 21st Dakota Division Virtual Meeting (webinar) and has been published on the K0LTC.org Midwinter Madness page page.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation ARRL has published a URL that will search the ARRL Hamfest and Convention Database for canceled events. No ARRL sanctioned Dakota Division Hamfests or Conventions have been canceled as of the date of this article.
