Clay RRRAES

  • Seth KC0ODE

People met with the City of Fargo as well as Cass and Clay counties regarding the flood outlook. The flood forecast has not changed in the last few weeks; everything is dependent on temperatures and future precipitation. Fargo anticipating having to fill 1 million sandbags, with ARES being deployed once the Red River reaches 32-36 feet.

Seth is also looking into the new ID badge system the county is using and making sure our IDs are compatible. All ARES members will receive new ID badges, as that is how volunteers will be managed.

KK0V and KC0ODE also met with FM Ambulance, and spent time with NDSU Emergency management students.

Sabin Skywarn is March 23rd. RRRA has not booked a Fargo Skywarn class yet.

A radio programming session was held prior to the business meeting. K0STK reminded everyone that the files to program HTs are available on the RRRA website.

Club Storage

Bob W0HNV reported the proposed indoor storage unit at U-Haul on 13th Ave has access from 5am-11pm. 24 hour access is available for an extra $10/mo, but this is likely not needed. The club can pay for 12 months and get one month free. Rental agreement renews yearly. This space is $75 a month, which is about on par for other facilities. Other sites did not have many indoor climate-controlled units. Another site had climate controlled, but no drive-in access.
