Radio Operators—both Expedition Team Members and remote contacts—are needed for the Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) 2021 North Dakota Expedition.
This large QRO Expedition—led by Jeremy KD8VSQ (13072T) and Ted K8AQM (1629S)—will operate from the Sheyenne Oaks Campground in Leonard, ND, beginning late May 20th and ending late afternoon May 23rd.
In their announcement published in the SKCC March 2021 Rag Chew newsletter, the Expedition organizers state:
We will try to keep operating as much as possible and may even do a bit of FT8 for those needing ND. Keep an eye out on the [SKCC Sked page] as we begin our operation. 1
DXpedtion operators will primarily use the call K8AQM/0 to provide that much needed ND S contact for those working on their SKCC WAS-S award.
The Expedition organizers hope the operation will include radio operators from the Fargo area and Red River Radio Amateurs club.

About SKCC

The Straight Key Century Club is the most active group of mechanical-key Morse code radiotelegraph operators in the world. Founded in January 2006, we have thousands of members around the globe.
Here’s how it works:
- Apply for free membership. (Open to licensed amateur radio operators only.)
- Make HF radio contacts using any of the three early original types of manual telegraph keys: Straight Key, Bug and Cootie.
- Gain on-air experience in sending and receiving by swapping numbers with other members; enter Club sponsored sprints, contests and special events; rag chew; earn activity & achievement awards; access our online resources, newsletter, forums and chat. 2
Join SKCC to receive an SKCC number. A paper application is available for those who don’t use e-mail.
SKCC have published a description of mechanical key types and participation guidelines.
