RRRA Officer elections will be conducted during the February Meeting.

This is your opportunity to help guide your club in the direction you would like it to go; and to give our current office holders an opportunity to re-engage with our hobby.

RRRA needs YOU to run for office in 2024

Officers and a Board of Directors are essential to the operation of the Red River Radio Amateurs and our club owes a debt of gratitude to those who have stepped forward to fill these leadership positions.

But we can not continue to depend upon the same few individuals year after year. It is well past time for new officers to step forward from within our membership.

As specified in Article III of the RRRA Bylaws, a leadership election will be conducted during the February Meeting.

What positions must be filled?

Four Officers and one At-Large Member of the Board of Directors are to be elected; with responsibilities as documented in Article VI—Board of Directors and Article VII—Officers of the RRRA Bylaws.

At-Large Member of the Board of Directors

One At-Large Member of the Board of Directors will be elected for a two year term.

Officers

A President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer will be elected for a one year term. In addition to serving as members of the Board of Directors, these Officers have the following responsibilities:

President

Charged with being the executive officer of the organization, the President shall:

  • Chair all meetings of membership
  • Oversee the governing of the organization’s business affairs
  • Enforce due observation of the Articles and Bylaws
  • Decide questions of order
  • Sign all official documents that are adopted
  • Perform all customary duties pertaining to the office of president
  • Perform other duties as put forth by the Executive Committee or the general membership
Vice-President

The Vice-President shall

  • Perform all the duties of the president in the absence of the President
  • Perform other duties as requested by the President, the Executive Committee and the general membership
Secretary

The Secretary shall

  • Attend all membership meetings, and committee meetings as requested
  • Keep minutes of such meetings
  • Keep the Articles and Bylaws current and available for review at every meeting
  • Keep all official records of the organization, and generate reports from such records as required
Treasurer

The Treasurer shall

  • Tend to all monies of the organization
  • Make disbursements of said monies to retire liabilities
  • Make full account of all monies and assets to the Executive Committee and the general membership

About the Board of Directors

The RRRA Board of Directors is constituted by Article VI of the RRRA Bylaws:

The Board of Directors of this organization shall consist of between seven and twelve current members. These members shall include

  • The current duly elected officers
  • Trustee
  • Ex-officio members consisting of
    • The previous officers serving one year on the board concurrent to leaving office
    • Two members elected at large

Elected members at large shall serve a term of two years, and may be elected to, and serve unlimited consecutive terms.

The Board of Directors shall be responsible

  • To form from the wishes of the membership, long term objectives and goals for the organization
  • To oversee all operations and activities of the corporation
  • To ensure to the best of their abilities that the operations and activities are legal, within the spirit of the Mission Statement, Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, do not jeopardize the Corporation, or its members, and are congruent with a fluid and unvarying course to achieve the objectives and goals of the organization

A minimum of five members of the Board of Directors must be present in order to conduct business.

A majority of the members present and voting shall be required to pass motions. However, on any issues involving the expenditure of funds, such approval shall require the unanimous vote of all Committee members present and voting.

We have candidates for all of the positions but, if you’re interested, now is your chance to run.
