Radio Operators needed for Walk MS: Fargo 2020

Ten amateur radio operators (hams) are needed to provide communications support for Walk MS: Fargo 2020 on April 25th, 2020 at Courts Plus Community Fitness, Fargo.

Radio operators interested in volunteering for this event should attend the March business meeting or contact for more information.

Radio operators are needed on-site by 8:30am for registration and must be able to assist until all the walkers have completed their route.

Maps of the event routes (1 mile, and 3 miles) will be available on the Walk MS: Fargo 2020: Routes & Maps page. Station locations will be determined once the route maps are published.

New hams are encouraged to participate in this event to gain experience in Public Service Communication operations.

Ten amateur radio operators (hams) are needed to provide communications support for Walk MS: Fargo 2019 on April 27th, 2019 at Courts Plus Community Fitness, Fargo.

Radio operators interested in volunteering for this event should attend the March business meeting or contact for more information.

Radio operators are needed on-site by 8:30am for registration and must be able to assist until all the walkers have completed their route.

2018 MS Walk Radio Operators Group Photo

On April 28 a group of RRRA members—led by N0IPC—provided communication support in the vicinity of West Fargo Veterans Memorial Arena for the 2018 MS Walk.

Five stations and a SAG vehicle were staffed by these operators. The SAG vehicle was donated by Gateway Chevrolet.

More Radio Operators Needed for Walk MS Fargo 2017

Three amateur radio operators (hams) are still needed to provide communications support for Walk MS: Fargo 2017 on April 29th, 2017. And a cross-band repeater is needed for the Start/Finish Line position.

New hams are encouraged to participate in this event to gain experience in Amateur Radio Public Service Communication operations.

Radio Operators needed for Walk MS Fargo 2017

Seven amateur radio operators (hams) are needed to provide communications support for Walk MS: Fargo 2017 on April 29th, 2017.

New hams are encouraged to participate in this event to gain experience in Public Service Communication operations.

The ARRL Do’s and Don’ts of Public Service Communications (PDF - hosted at training.reactintl.org) provides useful tips for all operators.

Radio operators will stationed in the following locations:

  • Start / Finish line - 2
  • SAG van - 1
  • Rest stop (long route) - 2
  • Between rest stop and finish line (long route) - 1
  • Midway on short route - 1

These operator stations are vehicle accessible.

Radio Operator check-in time / meeting location will be set prior to the event date.

The event support net will operate simplex; operators are encouraged to bring range extending accessories such as a 1/4 wave whip antenna or tiger tail.
